Costa Rica?

Okay, we’re going on a school trip to Costa Rica in May. It’s supposed to be really humid and in the 70’s and 80’s when we go. I HATE it hot or warm. I love the cold. The thing is, is that in San Jose, CR, there will be a ton of mosquitos. Our teachers suggest that we wear long pants and clothes. But its’ going to be sooo hot and I’ll get really hot and stick which is really annoying.
Any tips on what to wear and stuff like that? Thanks a ton! I wear a lot of jeans in the Fall/Winter/Spring.
If you are going only to San Jose that’s false.There is no mosquitoes in San Jose and it gets really hot only for a few hours per day.At night is actually cold so you might want to take a jacket with you.San Jose is high above sea level.If you are going to other places you will need mosquito repellent for sure.I don’t recommend that you wear jeans,that will make you hotter and will make you sweat.Instead choose some light material like silk,long pants.That will give you protection from the sun and bugs but still leave some room for your skin breath.On top in hot places is good to choose sheer material with long sleeves.Also remember that black color attracts the sun,so choose light colors
There are some mosquitoes in San Jose but is no much different than in the US and the weather is springlike in SJ and its not really hot and not sticky at all
Now if you go to limon there is where the humid hot and mosquito problem is but just wear a nice repelent and its not really exagerated as some ppl may say or think it is, just take normal clothes jeans its just fine some shorts if you do go to the limon o puntarenas and you may take a sweater nothing too big cause it doesnt get that cold either it just gets chilly at nigth

It’s the exact same way when I go home to Trinidad and Tobago. Tons and tons of bugs…ewww! I recommend wearing capris so that way most of your legs are covered and I either wore 3/4 sleeve tops or t-shirts. I also recommend that you purchase some really good bug spray. A few bottles because you will be using it a lot. You will enjoy yourself. Don’t forget your mosquito net!
